Praise in the midst of disaster!

This fall, 2022, a Christians in Action  (CinA) missionary couple addressed pastors and their wives about being Good Shepherds during a Pastors’ retreat. A week later, word came to them that the CinA church where they met was on fire, and they expected it to be a total loss! The missionaries returned to the building to help in practical ways such that helped limit the potential danger to other area residents. There was nothing they could do to save the building. Praise God no one was injured in the destructive blaze.

Why is it that the dear souls of Sierra Leone have had to suffer such a tragedy? The answer is not easy, but God is there! And He will bring blessing out of ashes. What do Christians do in situations like this? Complain against God, suffer depression, or point the finger of blame at someone? Not the members of Emmanuel Church in Bo, Sierra Leone. The next day, Sunday, as the missionaries approached to attend services in the nearby school building, they heard the congregation jubilantly singing, “Rejoice in the Lord Always.” Later that morning, the pastors preached on the importance of maintaining the ‘Joy of the Lord’ despite circumstances.

Emmanuel Church is comprised of the PEOPLE who worship together in Bo, NOT the building. But Emmanuel church needs a building to call home. Therefore, they are planning to rebuild.
