News from the Northwest

Dear Ministry Partners,

Joy and I had just started outreach when we came across a group of homeless people camped out on the sidewalk. While offering them socks, etc., we also gave them Gospel tracts and a few words of blessing.

“Do you believe the Bible is the Word of God?” asked one of them. “I’m talking about the real Bible.” ” Yes we do,” I replied. “In fact I am doing a personal Bible study in Genesis. The Messianic Fellowship we attend asked me to read Genesis 1:1-8 in the Hebrew language.”

“Oh, are you Jewish? “Yes I am,” I replied. “Are you Jews for Jesus? she asked. My answer that we weren’t with Jews for Jesus prompted this comment, “I didn’t mean that, I meant are you a Jew…for Jesus!” Learning that she’d guessed right, she had confidence to tell us that she was raised in a Jewish home. Her dad was Jewish. But there was more.

She quoted some scriptures, and said, “I know they told me not to do this but I am going to do it anyway.” With that she broke down in tears and openly confessed, “I’ve done so many sins.” We gently shared with her concerning scriptures about repentance and God’s forgiveness and offered to pray for her. “Yes, please do.” She was so grateful. A week or two later, we saw the group again on a different street. She wanted another tract and we pray she will soon come to Christ.

Our granddaughter came with us a few weeks ago. She was a natural in talking with those we met. When in high school she had joined in the Christmas and Easter outreaches with us. We are now getting ready for this year’s Christmas outreach and have some of the items for the 100 bags already in the bags, with more to come.

Recently, while we were on the way to volunteer at the food pantry, the car’s transmission gave out. There were other major problems, too. On hearing this, some dear friends blessed us with a very generous gift toward another car. We’re very thankful to God for their kind giving. Please pray that we find the car that’s right for the ministry and us soon!

Thank you for standing with us in ministry.

Serving together with you!
