Hiatt, Alan & Mariellen

Alan and Mariellen Hiatt

We were married in June 1972 while staff members of CinA in Long Beach, CA. During the next six months in our devotionals, separately, we noticed similar verses that indicated that we should go as missionaries to a place that we both had been to. That was the island of Okinawa in the country of Japan.

During the first six months of 1973, we presented our ministry to many churches and Christians to gain monthly support and travel funds.

From the end of 1973 until 1997, we pastored a church in Fukuoka, Japan. During those years many became Christian. Of those five became pastors or missionaries. Alan’s first convert with his wife are missionaries in the Philippines. Others are in Japan.

In 1997 we were directed by the Lord to return to the international headquarters. Alan became a part of the accounting department and helped install a donor database. Over the next 16 years, he was a part-time IT, accounting manager, CFO, and corporate secretary. Also as a member of the training staff, he taught cross-cultural concerns and financial accountability.

Mariellen became a proofreader for the monthly newsletter and later a member of the accounting department for donor donations.

During our years in Japan, we were blessed with four children, one daughter, and three sons. We started an English language Christian home school for their education but had other children join over the years.

We moved to Tucson, AZ after retirement in 2013. Soon after settling in, we were asked to pastor a local church. That is what we are doing now. It has been a joy to study the Bible with a faithful church family. We continue to pray for growth.
